Welcome to Cephas
Secret Place to Pray
- "Let your light so shine
before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 kjv)
- "And when thou prayest,
thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray
standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets,
that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have
their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet,
and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is
in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall
reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions,
as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for
their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for
your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before
ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which
art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will
be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine
is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
(Matthew 6:5-13
kjv)
- "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into
temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is
weak." (Matthew
26:41 kjv)
- "Confess your faults one
to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
- The effectual fervent prayer
of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16 kjv)
- "Rejoice evermore. Pray
without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this
is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 kjv)
- "Hear my prayer, O LORD,
and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for
I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers
were. O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence,
and be no more."
(Psalms 39:12-13)
- "Hear my prayer, O God;
give ear to the words of my mouth. For strangers are risen up
against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not
set God before them. Selah. Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord
is with them that uphold my soul." (Psalms 54:2-4 kjv)
- <<A Psalm of David.>>
- "LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto
me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. Let my prayer
be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my
hands as the evening sacrifice. Set a watch, O LORD, before my
mouth; keep the door of my lips. Incline not my heart to any
evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity:
and let me not eat of their dainties. Let the righteous smite
me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall
be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my
prayer also shall be in their calamities. When their judges are
overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they
are sweet. Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when
one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. But mine eyes are
unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my
soul destitute. Keep me from the snares which they have laid
for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked
fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape." (Psalms 141:1-10 kjv)
- "The LORD is far from
the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous."
(Proverbs 15:29)
